Urban, Endemic, and Exotic Birds of Antioquia This unique two or three-day birdwatching tour combines the rich urban and endemic birdlife of Medellín with the extraordinary diversity of exotic and endemic species found in Jardín, Antioquia—one of Colombia’s most iconic birding destinations. The adventure begins early in Medellín with a 5:30 a.m. pickup. During the morning, you will explore selected urban and natural areas of the city, focusing on endemic and urban-adapted bird species. Birdwatching activities continue until approximately 12:00 p.m. After lunch, we travel by road to the colorful town of Jardín, Antioquia. In the afternoon, we visit a local reserve to observe the spectacular Andean Cock-of-the-rock in its natural habitat, an unforgettable highlight of the region. The following morning, we head into the mountains surrounding Jardín for an immersive birding experience in cloud forest ecosystems. Here, you will have the opportunity to spot remarkable species such as the endemic Yellow-headed Parrot, along with many other highland birds. In the afternoon, the tour continues with a visit to the Oilbird Cave (Cueva de los Guácharos), where you can photograph Oilbirds and additional species unique to this environment.
