This immersive adventure combines spectacular landscapes, endemic birds, rare wildlife, and world-class photography opportunities. Day 1 – Oilbirds, Cock-of-the-Rock & Owls Depart Medellín and travel through breathtaking Andean scenery to Jardín. Our first stop is the famous Guácharos Reserve, home to resident, endemic, and migratory species such as Torrent Duck, Green Jay, Flame-rumped Cacique, woodpeckers, tanagers, and the mysterious Oilbird—one of the world’s most fascinating nocturnal birds. In the afternoon, visit a spectacular lek of the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, where males perform colorful courtship displays, offering exceptional photography opportunities. After dinner, continue the adventure with a night excursion in search of owls and other nocturnal wildlife. Day 2 – Hummingbirds & Yellow-eared Parrots After breakfast, explore Bambusa Farm and its rich birdlife before ascending to the legendary Ventanas region, a stunning high-mountain ecosystem of cloud forests and towering wax palms. Enjoy an unforgettable interactive hummingbird experience as multiple species feed only inches away. As evening approaches, search for the iconic Yellow-eared Parrot returning to its roosts among the wax palms. Spend the night in a beautiful mountain cabin overlooking pristine forest. Day 3 – Wax Palms, Antpittas & Return to Medellín Before sunrise, ride on horseback or hike to the wax palm forests, home to Colombia’s national tree. Witness the magical awakening of Yellow-eared Parrots as they leave their roosts at dawn—one of Colombia’s greatest wildlife spectacles.
